TRAFFIC VIOLATION RESULTS IN DWI ARREST

On October 11th, 2024 at approximately 11:58 p.m. a Del Rio Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a 2013 tan Nissan Pathfinder after the vehicle ran the red light at Veterans Blvd. and E. 2nd St.

The vehicle stopped at the parking lot located at the 200 block of Veterans Blvd. striking the curb.  The officer made contact with the driver identified as Karl Ernst Bollmann, 63 yrs. of age. Upon making contact with Bollmann, the officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. The officer also observed that Bollmann had bloodshot eyes.

Upon request from the officer, Bollmann attempted to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing but was not able to do so. Due to the officer’s observations, Bollmann was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.

Bollmann was transported to the Val Verde Sheriff’s Office where a breath sample was collected. Due to the breath sample results, Bollmann was arrested and charged with the offense of Driving While Intoxicated with BAC >=0.15.
