TRAFFIC VIOLATION, ACTIVE WARRANT & NARCOTICS

On Feb. 5th, 2025 at approximately 8:47 p.m. a Del Rio Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop for a headlamp violation on Dr Fermin Calderon Blvd.

Police made contact with the driver identified as Guadalupe PenÞa; 53 yrs. of age and advised him of the reason for the stop. An arrest warrant inquiry was conducted, and police were informed PenÞa had an active arrest warrant from Val Verde Sheriff’s Office for the offense of Unlawful Carrying Weapon.

PenÞa was placed under arrest for said warrant and was searched incident to an arrest. The search of his person revealed a box of cigarettes containing a crystal- like substance. Additionally, officers located a glass smoking pipe inside PenÞa’s vehicle commonly used to smoke narcotics.

PenÞa was transported to Del Rio Police Department for booking and processing. The crystal-like substance was field tested yielding positive results for Methamphetamine. PenÞa was arrested for the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B<1g. He was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility pending Magistration process.
