The Gym on 12th Street: Visits the Connect Del Rio Studios
Del Rio, TX – The Gym on 12th Street, a local fitness haven, has been named the Connect Del Rio Business of the Year for 2024. Owner Adam Fuentes recently joined the CDR24 Morning News Show to discuss the gym's journey, its impact on the community, and future plans.
"It goes way back to my dad," Fuentes shared, explaining the gym's origins. "He instilled bodybuilding and fitness in our life since we were little." After a brief hiatus, the gym reopened in 2009, and since then, it has become a beloved fixture in the Del Rio community.
The gym has not only transformed the physical health of its members but has also created a community within. "We've had people who have lost over a hundred pounds with us," Fuentes said. "We've had people who have won bodybuilding competitions and gone on to compete and become trainers themselves."
As we enter a new year, many people are looking to kickstart their fitness journeys. Fuentes offered valuable advice for those returning to the gym after a break: "Start small, you know, like I say Rome wasn't built in a day." He emphasized the importance of setting realistic goals and gradually increasing workout intensity to avoid burnout.
Looking ahead, The Gym on 12th Street has exciting plans for the future. Fuentes revealed upcoming challenges, competitions, and collaborations with local organizations, including the Miss Valverde and Miss Del Rio pageants.
