SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE COUNTS OF BURGLARY

On July 10th, 2024 at 9:29 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the Brown Automotive Chevrolet Dealership for a burglary report. Upon arrival, police met with Management who reported several vehicles in the lot had been burglarized. Police processed the vehicles and completed the necessary reports for investigation.

Police recovered surveillance footage depicting a male subject committing the burglaries. Information was forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.

Detectives reviewed the evidence and identified the male suspect as Elijah Cardenas; 23 yrs. of age. Detectives discovered Cardenas committed additional burglaries in the same location. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Cardenas.

On July 11th, 2024 Cardenas was arrested and charged with 7 Counts of Burglary of vehicles and 3 Counts of Attempted Burglary of vehicles. Cardenas was transported to the police station where he was processed, he was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
