SUBJECT TRESPASSES SCHOOL AND RESISTS ARREST

On April 4th, 2025, at 7:40 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the Garfield Elementary School located at the 300 block of West Martin St. for a suspicious shirtless male inside school property.

Police arrived and observed the male subject, later identified as Sergio Omar Salinas; 34 yrs. of age inside of the school playground. Police approached the male and successfully detained him.

SFDRCISD Officer informed police the subject gained access to the playground and attempted to walk to the cafeteria. The School Officer blocked the subject's access to the cafeteria and took him to the ground in attempt to detain him, but he began to resist.

Police arrived and assisted with handcuffing the male subject. Police determined the subject did not have children attending the campus.

Sergio Salinas was arrested for the offense of Resisting Arrest Search or Transportation and was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for booking and processing.

During a search police located a clear crystal-like substance inside Salinas’ bag. The substance was tested yielding positive for Methamphetamine. Salinas was also arrested for the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 < 1 gram Drug Free Zone.
