SPEEDING RESULTS IN ARREST

On March 31st, 2024 at approximately 8:18 a.m. a Del Rio Police Department officer was traveling southbound on Dodson Ave. when he saw a vehicle traveling the opposite direction at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the radar and confirmed the vehicle was traveling at 80 mph in a 35mph zone.

The officer made a U-turn and activated the emergency equipment of his patrol unit, attempting to initiate a traffic stop. The speeding vehicle attempted to make a left turn into the rear parking lot of 2211 N Bedell Ave. but failed to control his speed, colliding against the landscaping.

Officer met with the driver and noticed signs of intoxication. The driver performed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing showing several clues of intoxication. The driver identified as Robert Ramos Jr.; 50 yrs. of age was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Ramos provided a breath specimen resulting over 0 .15 BAC. Due to the specimen results, his charge was enhanced to the offense of Driving While Intoxicated BAC >= 0.15.

Ramos was transported to the police station for booking and processing, he was later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
