SIBLINGS ARRESTED FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH WEAPON

On September 20th, 2024, at approximately 10:13p.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Ave P. for a disturbance. While responding, police were informed a male subject had a knife, and an ambulance was needed at the scene.

Upon arrival police met with a female victim, who reported a male subject identified as Victoriano Ortiz had a firearm and was inside the residence. Police also learned several children were inside the residence. A few minutes later the children were safely removed from the residence and were released to a family member. The female victim was treated at a safe staging area by EMS and was later transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

DRPD, DPS, and VVSO conducted a search of the residence; locating Victoriano Ortiz hiding inside a mattress. Victoriano was detained pending further investigation. A female identified as Isabella Ortiz was also detained for further investigation. Police later learned both subjects participated in the assault of the female victim.

A medical evaluation of the victim revealed multiple injuries throughout her body to include three puncture wounds to the right leg, caused by a knife. Child Protective Services was contacted due to the living conditions at the residence. Evidence was recovered at the scene.

Victoriano Ortiz; 22 yrs. of age and Isabella Ortiz; 21 yrs. of age were arrested and charged with the offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
