SFDRCISD UPDATES CLEAR BACKPACK POLICY FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS

District leadership has updated the clear backpack policy to include the allowable use of mesh backpacks. Although mesh backpacks aren’t completely transparent, they allow enough visibility to see what is inside the bag and are another safe option for use in secondary schools.

Two years ago, SFDRCISD implemented several school safety measures, including the requirement that students in grades 6-12 use only clear backpacks. This year, the District will expand the option to use mesh backpacks. Students involved in extracurricular activities such as band or athletics may bring other bags for storing instruments and gear; however, all bags must be checked in upon arrival at school and are subject to a safety search at any time.
