Del Rio's piece of history is finally getting the cinematic treatment it deserves! 'The Long Game', based on the book 'Mustang Miracle', is hitting theaters on April 12th. The film debuted at the 2023 South by Southwest Film Festival, even winning the Narrative Spotlight Audience Award, so the excitement is building.
Directed by Julio Quintana and produced by Dennis Quaid (who also stars!), 'The Long Game' tells the incredible true story of the 1957 San Felipe High golf team. Gene Vasquez, Felipe Romero, Lupe Felan, Joe Trevino, and Mario “Mike” Lomas defied expectations when they won the Class A Texas State High School championship by an amazing 35 strokes – a story chronicled in Humberto Garcia's book.
With a winning mix of underdog sports drama and a powerful message, 'The Long Game' is sure to be a crowd-pleaser when it arrives in theaters this April!
