Noches Musicales Finale Brings Del Rio Together in a Celebration of Culture and Community

Ballet Folklorico Macuilxochitl, BEXAR BRASS, and Alto Voltaje Perform

Last night, the finale for the Noches Musicales series took place, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Hosted by the Casa de la Cultura and its Executive Director, Lupita De La Paz, this event was the culmination of a summer-long tradition that has been a staple in the Del Rio community for over 18 years.

Despite the heat, families from all over Del Rio gathered at the historic Brown Plaza, setting up their lawn chairs and enjoying a night of vibrant music and amazing performances. "So tonight is our finale of Noches Musicales, which is a summer concert series that we've been offering for about 18 plus years here with the Casa de la Cultura," said Lupita De La Paz. "We host it here at the Brown Plaza, our historical Brown Plaza, and we get our food vendors, our different variety bands all summer long and people come bring their chairs and be a part of the event. Noches Musicales has been part of a tradition."

The night kicked off with a captivating performance by Ballet Folklorico Macuilxochitl at 8 PM, setting the tone for an evening filled with entertainment and togetherness. Following this, Bexar Brass from San Antonio took the stage at 8:30 PM. Known as "San Antonio's favorite Brass Band," Bexar Brass regularly performs on the San Antonio Riverwalk and brings their energetic sounds to Del Rio. Reflecting on their experience, one of the band members said, "So, to get the opportunity to be part of such a really lively and, you know, exciting event, you know what I mean, it's definitely something unique and fun. Nothing but amazing things to say about, you know, Nursing School Cicalis for sure. You know, Daniel, I'm sure you can say the same." "Yeah, this whole event was awesome. We don't really see this type of, what's the word, turnout for events like this back home. So this was really, really awesome to see and also to be a part of."

As the night continued, the crowd was treated to a lively performance by Alto Voltaje, a local favorite. The music had everyone up on their feet, dancing with their children and loved ones under the warm night sky.

Noches Musicales brought together the community for nights filled with music, dance, and shared joy. As the summer concert series comes to a close. The Casa de la Cultura continues to be a central location of cultural enrichment in the community, offering programs year-round that keep the arts alive and accessible to all.
