Mass Turnout for Border Federal Credit Union's Back-to-School Teacher Appreciation Event
Border Federal Credit Union (BFCU) organized a Back-to-School Teacher Appreciation Vendor Fair in the BFCU Community Room, where approximately 15 vendors from across town gathered to express their gratitude to the local educators in the community.
The event was not exclusively for SFDR-CISD teachers but was open to all teachers in the area. Maria J. Martinez, CEO and President of BFCU, said that the event resulted from collaboration among various organizations and businesses."There are teachers who are walking away with bags full of stuff," Martinez stated. "And it's amazing because they get their bag from us with a lot of goodies already in it." Teachers got to go around the room and visit with other businesses and organizations that offered teachers bags and free items filled with supplies and other donated items from vendors.
Abram Rodriguez, the Marketing and PR Manager of BFCU, shared, "So we're doing this also because, as a credit union, we give back to our community. Our members are owners. And we have plenty of member-owners within the teaching community. So this is a great way for us to give back and show our true roots as a cooperative financial institution." "We appreciate all you do for us. Teachers, y'all are amazing in everything you do for our community," Martinez added.
Being a credit union, with ties to the community BFCU remains committed to helping its members and maintaining the cooperative values that shape its mission. The Back to School Teacher Appreciation Vendor Fair showcases their support, for those who play a role in enhancing the community and its future.
