Walmart Supercenter in Del Rio is scheduled for a significant remodel this summer. The project, estimated at $3.5 million, involves renovations to both the interior and exterior of the 206,347-square-foot store, located at 2410 Dodson Avenue.

Some of the projects planned for the Del Rio store include updates to existing signage, designated online order pickup parking, new rooftop equipment, enhanced lighting, demolition and replacement of exterior sidewalks and pavement, relocation of refrigerated cases, and remodeling of the customer service area, break room, and restrooms, which will soon feature a new mother's room.

The local store is part of Walmart’s five-year growth plan, which includes the construction of 150 new stores and the remodeling of 650 existing ones across 47 states and Puerto Rico. This plan utilizes a “Store of the Future” concept that incorporates enhancements such as:

- Expansion of Grocery Pickup and Delivery

- Updated Pharmacy

- New Grab-and-Go Section

Expanded deli and produce sections.

- Renovated Apparel Section

- New community-focused food and merchandise offerings

The project, aimed at enhancing the layout and integrating the retailer's latest technology, is scheduled to commence this summer and is expected to take up to four months to complete. The store will remain open throughout the construction process.
