Del Rio Experiences The Sleeping Lady Kingdom for the First Time! Del Rio Renaissance Faire is a Success, Hazzah!
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the Del Rio Renaissance Faire took place the Whitehead Memorial Museum. This event wasn't your average market and it definitely wasn't an event you'd normally see in Del Rio. Nathan Villarreal, Haven Mancha, Kassandra Alfaro, and Marcus Castilla came together to put on an event that attracted many Del Rioans to dress up and enjoy local vendors.
The renaissance faire attracted about 800 visitors, according to the passionate group. Among those attendees, many came dressed up or attended with family and friends!
From magic potions & fairy hair to art and trinkets; many vendors set up shop at this event (and in costume too). The group ultimately decided that the Whitehead Memorial Museum, a museum that focuses on Del Rio's history and the surrounding areas, was the perfect location to host an event like this.. and they picked the perfect location.
Walking into the faire; you would be greeted by an individual who welcomed you to the 'Sleeping Lady Kingdom!' As you traversed the 'Sleeping Lady Kingdom' old Renaissance style music would play, transporting you to a different era! It was a relaxing and fun event. Almost every vendor was dressed up and was having just as much fun as the attendees in some of the most magical and cool stand setups.
"We believe people liked that our event was different from every other event they've seen down here in town. We introduced our community to a whole new world and we really want to bring more of that magic to our people." The group shared with us. They also plan on preparing another Renaissance faire for next year.
