Del Rio Babe Ruth 14u All Star Team Receives Certificate of Recognition from Mayor Arreola

Some of the 2024 Babe Ruth 14u All Star Team and Coach Diego Almaraz thank Mayor Al Arreola for the Certificate of Recognition they received for representing the City of Del Rio in the Babe Ruth World Series.

During the Mayor’s Announcements portion of the August 27, 2024 Regular City Council Meeting, Mayor Al Arreola took a moment to recognize the 2024 Babe Ruth 14u All Star Baseball Team and present them with a certificate of recognition on behalf of the Mayor and City Council. 

“These kids demonstrated really good sportsmanship and collaboration with other teams,” Mayor Arreola told those in attendance about his experience attending the Babe Ruth World Series in support of the 14u All Star Team. “They even became the ambassadors for Del Rio and brought Australia’s team to do an exhibition in our community, so when you’re talking about amistad, that is amistad,” referring to the game that was held earlier this month between Del Rio and the Australian 14u team. 

“I was overwhelmed with the professionalism, the sportsmanship of this team, they represented Del Rio very well and I’m honored to present this certificate of recognition to the 2024 Babe Ruth 14u All Star Team for representing the Del Rio-Southwest Region in the Babe Ruth World Series which was hosted this year in Eagle Pass, Texas,” Mayor Arreola stated as he honored the team. 

He also shared that it is the intention of the city to host the 2026 Babe Ruth World Series here in Del Rio, “In 2026 the city of Del Rio should be hosting the next World Series and that is something that is in our vision for the city,” Mayor Arreola stated. 

“These kids are eventually going to be Rams and I could not be more proud to give you guys this certificate,” he concluded before inviting the players and coaches in attendance up for a photo.
