CTE Culinary Arts Students Earn ServSafe Food Manager Certifications
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Culinary Arts and Advanced Culinary Arts students successfully passed the challenging ServSafe Food Manager’s Certification exam.
Culinary Arts students have the opportunity to achieve two industry certifications: ServSafe Food Manager and AMSA Meat Selection & Cookery. These certifications provide students with comprehensive coursework covering current industry standards in the Culinary Arts & Hospitality Industry. Students who obtain these certifications demonstrate an understanding of current industry standards, managerial skills, communication skills, employability, and marketability.
Those who passed the exam have been in the Hospitality and Tourism Cluster for 3+ years and have followed a coherent sequence of courses that have enabled them to gain the necessary knowledge and skills. The seniors who received the ServSafe Food Managers Certification are Maya Aguilar, Analisa Mireles, Ezekiel Deitrick, Ashley Gutierrez, Myla Perches, Juan Muñoz, Ayesha Blanco, Eric Flores, Humberto Siller, and the junior students are Sebastian Montealegre and Benjamin Harlan.
The Culinary Arts program is part of the Hospitality and Tourism Cluster in the growing Career and Technical Education (CTE) department. The four-year program begins at the Del Rio Freshman campus and continues through graduation at Del Rio High School. The Culinary Arts instructor is Chef Adan Cortez.
