CTE Business Students Tour Corporations
A group of Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from the Del Rio High School business cluster recently went on a Corporate Business Tour. The tour aimed to provide students with an opportunity to explore corporate America. The first stop was at USAA, the largest private company in San Antonio that offers financial services to active and retired military personnel and their families. Humberto Sanchez, a senior data engineer at USAA and a DRHS Class of 2009 graduate, helped coordinate the tour. The USAA University Relations Team and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) members also assisted in the tour. The students toured the USAA's huge headquarters building, learning about their history, awards, and how to apply for future internships and positions. They also had the opportunity to attend a panel discussion with USAA employees who shared their education, career experiences, and words of wisdom. The in-house catering service provided lunch for the students.
Later, the students visited the Dixie Flag Manufacturing Company, a well-respected and trusted flag company that was founded in 1858. They witnessed the flag manufacturing process, viewed unique flags, banners, and future projects the company has created. Accompanying the group on the tour were Ms. Angelina Ramon, Mrs. Larissa Garanzuay, and Mr. Mario Jimenez, who are CTE Business Teachers, and Mrs. Christi Barrera, the CTE Coordinator.
