On March 7, 2025, Comstock ISD held a celebration for their state cross country champions who had achieved this milestone in late February.
This was the first team championship for Comstock, and the first in Val Verde County since the 1960's. This is an amazing and outstanding milestone that is sure to stay with the Panthers for years to come.
"These athletes worked hard for years to be one of the six state championship teams in Texas... Over the past five years the Panthers have risen from a close miss to advancing to state, to a state 13th place, 9th place, 3rd place, and at last, a Team State Championship at the state meet... Every year our expectations and confidence grew," said Coach Lee Abbey.

The Panthers dominated the competition throughout the season displaying multiple achievements.
