Community Backs the SFDR-CISD Education Foundation at Adventure on the Creek 4
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 8 a.m., the San Felipe Del Rio CISD Education Foundation hosted the fourth annual Adventure on the Creek event. This triathlon, which includes biking, running, and kayaking down the San Felipe Creek, aims to raise money for scholarships for teachers and students within the district.
The participants started biking first and then running and finally kayaking. As in the past, many people attended this year’s event and the occasion was successful in generating money for scholarships and innovative teaching grants. There has been a consistent increment in Adventure on the Creek since its inaugural event, a factor attributed to continued community backing.
As the Education Foundation continues to grow and learn from previous Adventure on the Creek events, they try new things. One notable change was diverse divisions added for the increase in student participation. Ojeda who serves on the Foundation shared with us, "Typically we don't have a lot of student participation, so this year we actually added a student male and female division so every year we're trying to add in different categories or different ways to make it interesting and that was one of the ways we changed it up this year. We're really excited we had a lot more student participation in addition to all the volunteers as well."
The event concluded with their awards ceremony as the SFDR-CISD Education Foundation looks forward to serving its community by supporting our local school district and its initiatives.
