ALARM AT BASEBALL FIELD RESULTS IN ARREST

On May 21st, 2024 at 5:12a.m. Del Rio Police Department responded to the 800 block of Spring St. the Del Rio Ram Baseball Field for an alarm. Upon arrival the initial officer saw a male subject inside the field. Upon further inspection a chair was located on the side of the field that was likely used by the subject to jump over the wall gaining access into the property. Officers noticed all gates and locks were secured.
Officers then saw the male subject attempt to pry open the door to the concession stand building with a garden tool. Officers reacted to the noise coming from a nearby chain linked fence and saw as the male attempted to evade from the scene. Officers commanded the male to stop, but he ignored the commands and continued to evade on foot. Officers apprehended the male subject on Ash Street.
Officers returned to the scene and noticed the male had caused damage to the door of the concession stand, and merchandise inside was disturbed.
Contact was made with a keyholder of the building, who reported the building had been left secured and had no previous damage.
The suspect identified as Jose Daniel Reyes Rios; 30 yrs. of age was arrested and transported to the police station where he was charged with the offenses of Burglary of a Building, Criminal Mischief $100 < $750, and Evading Arrest Detention.
